Encounter Los Angeles and San Diego

7 nights from £1,349 per person Including Flights

Overview

A short break taking in two contrasting Californian cities. Enjoy the glitz and glamour of Los Angeles before heading south to sunny San Diego. In LA you really have to take a movie tour – choose from touring the Warner Bros Studios, or take a movies locations tour or perhaps the infamous Movie Stars Homes tour. You can hike the Hollywood Hills or Segway around the city, or explore the eateries on a foodie tour. Hop on the scenic train and relax over the next 3 hours as you journey on the Pacific Surfliner Amtrak taking you to San Diego. The choice is no less dazzling, take a whale-watching trip or board a sleek yacht for a dinner cruise. And an Old Town Trolley Tour is a lovely way to see the mix of history, cultural and entertaining attractions of this city. (TM)

This is a tailor-made itinerary so we can change the hotels and the amount of time you spend in each place to suit you.

  • See all the sights of Los Angeles – snap that photo of the Hollywood sign, take a studio tour, window shop along Rodeo Drive

Arrival in Los Angeles

Fly to Los Angeles Airport and transfer independently to your chosen hotel. We haven't included car hire in this holiday, as it's easy to get around LA and San Diego without a car, however we can always book a car for you if you'd prefer. Choose to stay in West Hollywood where you'll have famous attractions on your doorstep or head to the beach and stay in the upmarket Santa Monica. Known for its iconic pier, sandy beaches and the end of Route 66 sign!

Day 2

Los Angeles

There are some great tours to take around Los Angeles, such as a Movies Locations tour, a Warner Bros studio tour or the infamous Movie Stars Homes tour. Just let us know what you’d like and we can book it for you. There are some fun foodie tours as well, so you can sample the very many different types of cuisine LA has to offer.

Day 3

Los Angeles

You might want to get out and about today, so how about hiking or horse-riding in the Hollywood Hills? This evening you could book a starlight cruise along the southern Californian coast.

Day 4

Today, how about exploring the golden sands of Santa Monica? Rental a bike and ride along the scenic pathways enjoying tasting gorgeous Californian delights en-route.

Day 5

Los Angeles via Amtrak train to San Diego

Today you'll board the train at Los Angeles Downtown Station towards San Diego...unless you'd rather drive. If you drive you could either take the popular coastal route or detour inland so you can visit Temecula – a quaint western-style town with wooden boardwalks and rustic stores, plus other beauty spots en route. Then arrive at the self-styled “America’s Finest City”…also known as the birthplace of California. We’ve scheduled for you to have three nights stay here, but the beaches are glorious and there’s so much to do, that you might want to add another night or two.

Day 6

San Diego

You can simply relax on the beach in San Diego, indulge in people-watching whilst you’re soaking up the rays. Or you can try out one of the 101 activities in the area such as zipping around on a Segway Tour or hire some bikes. A brunch cruise around the bay is a lovely way to pass the time. Or visit the fascinating USS Midway.

Day 7

San Diego

Another day to enjoy this Oceanside city. San Diego is famous for it’s zoo, but you might prefer to see animals in their natural habitat, so book a whale watching cruise, and you might also spot dolphins and sea lions.

Day 8

Fly home

You’ll still have time for a few more hours on the beach, or a leisurely lunch before you head to the airport to fly home
