Flights and Transfers
Direct flights to Los Angeles from Heathrow or Gatwick take around 11hrs 30 mins, where you can then fly to Santa Barbara Municipal Airport.
Visa Requirements
Your passport must be valid for a minimum of six months from your return date to the UK, and you’ll need to check the full entry requirements before you travel. You can do this by visiting the FCO website or by contacting the relevant embassy. UK passengers can travel to the USA under the Visa Waiver Scheme, by completing an online form using the Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ETSA) system. Language
English is the primary language spoken, but California is a multilingual state with a number of ethnicities residing here.
Transportation
By bus: Buses run regularly in Santa Barbara, in the city centre and to neighbouring destinations such as Goleta and Montecito. There’s also a shuttle which runs along the waterfront for a fare of 50 cents.
By car: Hiring a car is a great idea if you plan on exploring vast distances of the city; there are numerous car hire companies both at the airport and throughout the city, and these work out to be more cost effective if you intend on travelling a lot.
By taxi: Taxis are really expensive here and no advised if you’re planning on long distances.

The local currency is the US Dollar – credit cards are readily accepted and you’ll find ATMs and banks easily.
