There is such a range of delicious food available throughout Florida, that even the pickiest of eaters and the most sophisticated of gourmets will be satisfied.

Coastal resorts such as Clearwater, Sarasota, Miami and the Keys offer wonderful fresh fish and seafood specialities, with lobster and crab particular holiday treats. And "Floridian" is a unique style of cuisine which has evolved around this seafood, alongside tropical fruits and spices.

Oranges are so important to Florida that they named a county after them, so don’t leave without enjoying a glass of the fresh orange juice.

Nightlife

For night owls the two resorts to focus on are Miami Beach and Orlando, where there is a dizzying choice of bars and nightclubs, from uber-cool clubs and cocktail bars in South Beach to nightly extravaganza shows and Irish pubs in Orlando.

International Drive in Orlando has a vast range of music venues and late bars alongside family and gourmet restaurants. And there are night-time complexes in the theme parks such as Universal CityWalk where highlights include Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville, Pat O’Briens (home to the “Hurricane” cocktail), the Red Coconut Club - a hip and happening nightclub, and “CityWalks Rising Star” – a karaoke bar with a difference featuring a live band and backing singers.

Miami has a justified reputation for exciting nightlife. One area to highlight is Lincoln Road, a pedestrianized area in South Beach, famous for its people watching, late dining and jazz bars. Here you’ll find “Salsa Mia” the place to enjoy dinner, mojitos and salsa classes with a live tropical band.  Also on Lincoln Road is the Van Dyke Café where there is live music nightly.

Nightlife on the Gulf Coast is more laid-back, but there is an abundance of places to enjoy a cocktail and watch the sunset, followed by a relaxed meal al fresco.
