Boston Short Break
Overview
Boston is well-known for its sports and its history, but we love the city for its food, drink and shopping. You’ll find upmarket restaurants and great value diners, cosy bars for romantic drinks and lively sports bars to watch the game, food to suit all tastes and fantastic locally brewed beers. Local specialities include Boston baked beans, lobster mac n cheese, clam chowder, Yankee pot-roast and for those with a sweet tooth - Boston cream pie.
You don’t have to be a history buff to find the historical attractions interesting. A great way to discover the city’s past is to stroll the Freedom Trail – two and a half miles connecting 16 historical sites. You can either do it in an hour and a half or break it up with some stops for refreshments … after all you are on holiday.
Boston has distinct neighbourhoods each with their own character and appeal. Stroll the protected historic district of Beacon Hill, sample the best Italian food in North End, explore the Irish roots and Naval history of Charlestown. (TM)
