San Antonio Overview

The city of San Antonio throbs with Old West and Hispanic culture and the popular River Walk, which is lined with cafés and restaurants, provides a great location to sit quietly and soak in the city.

Things to do in San Antonio

Each April, the city holds the Fiesta, a 100-event celebration that commemorates the Battle of San Jacinto in 1836 and the Alamo. The restaurants of the River Walk area sit on the banks of the San Antonio River, which flows through the city. The Missions National Historic Park is comprised of four missions and is a popular hiking trail, visiting each of the missions. Mission San José is the largest and holds regular religious ceremonies. La Villita was San Antonio’s first neighbourhood and today is an historic arts village with shops, galleries and internationally-influenced restaurants. Six Flags Fiesta Texas is a theme park with eight roller coasters and a huge array of attractions for all of the family. The 750ft Tower of the Americas is an excellent viewing platform for panoramic views of the city, while the King William Historic District is thought to be one of the oldest in Texas.
